Sconces, Sconces, Everywhere

October 12, 2010

This is kind of a double post, so my apologies for the schizophrenic nature.

Yesterday was house errands day! Marshalls and Target Funtime! We’ve been working over the past month to get things up on the walls, and we have the themes down (Travel, Friends/Family, Baseball, Circles) but needed some extra sprucing items. I had some fun in the house wares section of Marshalls, they have some awesome stuff and so cheap! I have now discovered the glory that is the sconce, who knew these things had a name!

I also picked up some awesome floating shelves, have you seen these, they are amazing, and dress up a room so much. The lovely Grill Boy got out his level and tape measure and hung everything up! I am in love with it! Although now we need more trinkets, who thought I would ever say that.

The finished product:

Dinner Monday was out at Tasca with Baker Girl’s old roommate! Always a delicious meal, this was no exception. Nothing like a $5 pitcher to grease the appetite wheels! I had a delicious chorizo sausage trio with grilled flatbread and caramelized onions, and goat cheese empanadas with pepper relish, sooooooo delicious! Also since roommate was ordering off their appetite stimulus menu (3 course for only $18) the lovely waiter gave me a dessert too, fresh churro with hot chocolate, holy yum! Alas I did not get any pictures, but since I left Grill Boy at home to fend for himself (he created a Shepard’s Pie Feast) I will just encourage you to go experience it for yourself!

Once home Grill Boy and I worked on finishing off a set of framed pictures. Grill Boy takes pictures of circles everywhere he goes and so we printed them out and have arranged them all in a big frame together, he’s an excellent photographer! Now the task of hanging them not at 10pm when the hammer will disturb the neighbors!

When I first looked at this post I thought it said scones not sconces…. as I was hungry when I read it …and since this blog is about FOOD. I claim misrepresentation on delicious items that have yet to be made in the kitchen of grill boy & baker girl!!

Side note about floating shelves….Target you are full of crap, I will never use your dry-wall screw anchors again, I am sticking with the good olde Home Depot version, I don’t care if you include them in your boxing of said shelves. Also while I have known this for a while I am in need of a rubber mallet.

I think these are nice, but scones with a little jam and butter would also do the trick. I’m with you,Grillboy.
